Aegon II’s coronation was hurriedly arranged in the defensible Dragonpit. Ser Criston Cole crowned Aegon, while Alicent Hightower crowned Aegon’s sister-wife, Helaena. However, the night before the coronation, the first act of betrayal occurred. Ser Steffon Darklyn of the Kingsguard fled the city, taking with him the crowns worn by Kings Jaehaerys I and Viserys I.
