Gavin Spokes as Lord Lyonel Strong
During the rule of King Viserys I Targaryen, Lyonel Strong was Lord of Harrenhal and the head of House Strong. He was Viserys’s master of rules and Hand of the King. Gavin Spokes plays Lyonel in the TV version of House of the Dragon.
How He Looks Like, Appearance and Character
Lyonel was a big, gray man who was known for being tough. People often thought he was a brute because he spoke slowly and was quiet. It turned out that he was astute and knowledgeable. Lyonel was also known as a brave fighter. Lyonel went to school at the Citadel and got six links. He knew everything there was to know about the law.
Lyonel came to court with his four children in 105 AD. They were Ser Harwin, Larys, and two girls who were not named. He was there to work as King Viserys I Targaryen’s master of laws. He later took over as Hand of the King from Ser Otto Hightower when Otto was fired in 109 AC.
When it was brought up in 111 AC that Prince Daemon Targaryen was accused of taking Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen‘s maidenhead, Lord Lyonel told Viserys that Daemon should be punished for treason. On the other hand, Septon Eustace warned the council of the bad reputation of killing family members, so Daemon was sent away instead.
When Ser Harwin, Lyonel’s son, was taken off as Princess Rhaenyra’s sworn shield in 120 AD, Lyonel left the court at King’s Landing to go with him back to Harrenhal. In the same year, he died in a fire at Harrenhal with his oldest son and heir. The curse of Harrenhal was blamed for the fire, which was considered a mistake. Prince Daemon, Lord Corlys Velaryon, Lyonel’s younger son Larys, who received Harrenhal, and King Viserys I were some other suspects who were not supernatural.
