Wil Johnson as Ser Vaemond Velaryon

Lord Corlys Velaryon, Lord of the Tides, got a sudden fever and became sick in 126 AC. This caused people to start talking about who would take over Driftmark. Lara and Laenor, Corlys’s two children, had both died six years before. Even though Laena’s two daughters and Laenor’s three sons were still alive, Lord Corlys’ oldest nephew Vaemond, insisted he should be Corlys’ chosen successor.

He said that Laenor’s three sons were not even his children and that their mother Rhaenyra Targaryen had been unfaithful. This would have ignored that Laena’s daughters were still ahead of him in the line of succession. To fight back, Rhaenyra sent her new husband, Prince Daemon, to capture Ser Vaemond. She cut off his head and fed his body to her dragon, Syrax. If his five younger cousins told more rumours about Rhaenyra’s three sons by Laenor, King Viserys I Targaryen cut off their tongues.
